Mission
geosophik exists to advance the public good through geospatial science. Our purpose is to harness geographic data, digital technology, and spatial thinking as tools for understanding, documenting, and improving the world around us — protecting natural and built environments, supporting communities, and contributing to more informed and equitable decisions at every scale.
We work across six interconnected areas that share a common thread: they are all shaped by where things happen, and they are all better addressed when the spatial dimension is made visible.
To pursue this mission, geosophik builds and shares three kinds of work.
Open-source Tools
Maps, databases, and web applications that make spatial data accessible and useful to people who need it.
Data Infrastructure
Sensor networks, GNSS reference stations, and open data portals aligned with international standards.
Education & Training
Building the capacity of individuals and organisations to understand and use spatial data in their own work and communities.
Across all of this, we are committed to openness. Open data, open software, and open knowledge are not incidental to what we do — they are how we ensure that the value of geospatial work reaches as broadly as possible, and that the communities who benefit most from spatial information are not excluded by access, cost, or complexity.
geosophik is based in Tripoli, in the heart of the Peloponnese, and most of our work begins close to home. We collaborate with researchers, municipalities, farmers, conservation organisations, and community groups who share a commitment to places worth caring for and futures worth building toward.
