What we process and why

Contact form submissions When you submit the contact form, we process your name, affiliation, and message. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — we need this information to respond to your inquiry. Submissions are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted.

Server access logs Standard server operations generate access logs containing IP addresses, request timestamps, and browser information. These are processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) for security monitoring, fraud prevention, and technical stability, and are not retained beyond 30 days.

Session data This site uses a strictly necessary session identifier to support secure technical functions. It is not used for tracking and expires when you close your browser.

Cookies

This site uses only strictly necessary cookies. No tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies are used. As only strictly necessary cookies are used, no consent banner is implemented.

Third-party services

The hero map animation on this site is a self-hosted video file. No map tile server or external library CDN is contacted during normal browsing.

The following third-party services are used exclusively for authenticated (logged-in) users and are not triggered by general public visitors:

Gravatar — When you are signed in, your profile avatar is fetched from gravatar.com using a one-way hash of your email address. Gravatar may process your IP address as part of delivering the image. Gravatar's privacy policy applies. If you have no Gravatar account, an auto-generated identicon is shown instead.

jsDelivr CDN — The blog editing tool loads the EasyMDE library from cdn.jsdelivr.net. This only occurs when a logged-in user accesses the blog editor page. jsDelivr's privacy policy applies.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA) at www.dpa.gr.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected] or via the contact form on this website.
